Find Your Home

Lesson 4

Now comes the fun part, looking for your first home!

Have you already been looking? Of course you have! It’s easy with all the real estate sites and apps out there.

However, most of those sites and apps are missing many available properties and the information may be out of date. Some of the homes may have already sold, and the prices are not always accurate.

I will link you up to a portal where you can see directly into the MLS—the Multiple Listing Service, which keeps an accurate and up-to-date inventory of all properties on the market. It’s free and easy to use.

Determining Wants and Needs

When we visit together, you’ll complete my buyer questionnaire so that I completely understand your needs and wants and then choose the right houses for you to look at.

After all, you don’t want to fall in love with a house that you can’t afford or doesn’t meet your needs!

I have found that the first few houses you look at will be an education about the market.

When we look at houses together, we’ll each be looking at different things.

You’ll be interested in the layout of the house, the backyard, or the master bathroom amenities.

As your agent, I’ll be looking at how the house compares to others in the area and any big-ticket items that will need repair.

Other things you’ll want to watch for when you’re looking at houses: The neighbors - Are kids playing out front? Are the yards maintained? Are the streets lined with cars? Do you feel safe? Are there nearby amenities?
