Get Your Eat On at the Austin Bergstrom International Airport!

While traveling through Austin Bergstrom International, you can get a taste of many different local favorites and if you’re lucky, you can catch some local musicians showing off their skills. We’ve come up with a list of 6 local eateries to meet all of your traveling needs while visiting ATX!

1.) Family-owned, Hill Country favorite, the one and only, Salt Lick. You can smell the hints of smoked meats as soon as you step into the airport. Salt Lick has 2 other locations, one in Round Rock and the other in Driftwood. Although the airport experience isn’t quite the same surrounding scene, you still get an idea of what all the hype is about (West Terminal, Gate 12). Hours: Sun-Fri 5:00 a.m. to 8:15 p.m., Sat 5:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m

2.) Annie’s Cafe and Bar, is one of the healthier choices offered in the airport.  The original location is located downtown off South Congress. They offer a mix of different salads- fruit, pasta and amazing sandwiches. Annie’s is a personal favorite for those early morning flights. You can get an amazing fried egg sandwich, served on grilled sourdough with bacon, tomato & aged cheddar. Their parfaits are also a delicious option. 3.) You can’t leave Texas without experiencing some Tex-Mex. Luckily, Maudie’s=Tex-Mex heaven. Especially if you’re up for an early flight, maybe post-SXSW or ACL, the secret cure is a delicious breakfast taco from Maudie’s. They also have migas and offer most full menu favorites. (West Terminal, Gate 12)                                                                                   Hours: Sun-Fri 5:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Sat 5:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

4.) Austin Java is a great place to grab your morning cup of Joe or a quick bite to eat. Multiple locations throughout Austin. The airport has a coffee house location and a cafe location. They offer fresh roasted coffee and pastries (Gate 10 & Gate 15).

5.) Saxon Pub shows off a little bit of South Austin’s dive-bar/live-music scene. They offer snacks, drinks and live music. Not a bad place to check out if you’ve got an afternoon flight with some time to kill (East Concourse, Gate 5).                                 Hours: Sun- 12pm to 6:15 p.m., Mon-Fri 10:30 a.m. to 6:15 p.m., Sat 10:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

6.) ThunderCloud will meet all your sub needs. “Fresh, Fast, and Healthy” from traditional NY Italian to Veggie Delite.      (Gate 7). Hours: Sun-Fri 10:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m., Sat 10:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
